The theme of the Marlon Gobel collection is the "cowboys of the sky", the ironworkers of the 20s where this type of work brought brave young men from Europe and Canada to New York, the capital of skyscrapers, to "build this city". Documented by photographer Lewis Hine in his series "men at work" he showcases men laboring on iron beams up in the air, for the construction of the Empire State building in 1930.
In Memory: My Dad, the Style Icon
25 years ago, today, my Father passed away.
To celebrate his life, I want to share some of his magnificent style. I've shown you some of his tailoring before, but what you may not know is that he was an architect, an interior designer and a photographer. He loved tailoring his own clothes and keeping on trend with menswear as well as hair styles.
Here are some memories of him, but let's not forget my gorgeous Mom who's not to shabby herself! The cutie at the end is my sister (aww!)
San Diego: Seersucker
Something that's perfect for the hot summer months is seersucker material, a light-weight cotton with a ripply texture. A great example is this gentleman spotted at Chocolat in San Diego.
Also perfectly paired with loafers sans socks.
Is this something you or your man would wear? Seersucker works for women, too.
Husbandswear IV: Colour
It's Spring so I'm checking in to see what my husband's wearing, again. I'm happy to report that it's colour!
Purple, what a royal and distinguished hue, and worn with grey, it's just a classic.
(Ben Sherman shirt, DKNY blazer, Calvin Klein tie)
Husbandswear III: The Elbow Patch
Has anyone gotten on the elbow patch bandwagon, yet?
I really love the idea but quickly realized that the patches don't quite line up with my elbows! So until I can find a petite sized blazer with elbow patches, I'll admire those who wear them well, like my husband (Bill Blass blazer).
I also love the look of Tweed in general, and the way it looks so put together, like these two. The first, a model styled by Roopal Patel when she presented at Neimans. The second, a gentleman at the races. And I'm loving the brightly coloured Tweed seen at the Chanel Spring 2012 show (as seen on my Pinterest).
How about you?
Do you Elbow Patch or Tweed or Both?
Husbandswear
My hubby wears suits and blazers to work every day and I can't help but think how dapper he looks each morning. I decided to start chronicling his combos of shirts/blazers/ties.
Today he had on a Hugo Boss dress shirt and a tweed blazer from Tom's Place in Toronto. We love Tom's Place; it's the best place to go whenever you need a suit or a tux for a big occasion and it's always tailored to fit perfectly. (photos by photohogger)
Stylewatch has been saying the BIG-BOYFRIEND-BLAZER trend is over. What do you think? Would you sport the oversized blazer?
Don't forget to enter to win this gorgeous copper STARR CUFF ($40 value!) from Esma Studio! Contest ends Monday October 17 at 5pmEST.
